Accessibility

Accessibility Statement

People looking for mental health support may be anxious, exhausted, or having difficulty concentrating. Accessibility is part of the content, not an add-on.

Our commitment

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA. We treat accessibility as an ongoing practice rather than a one-time checklist, and we test the site with keyboard navigation and screen-reader structure in mind.

What we have implemented

  • Keyboard navigation. Every interactive element, including the mobile menu and all filters, can be reached and operated with a keyboard alone. A "skip to main content" link is the first focusable element on every page.
  • Visible focus indicators. Focused elements show a 3px outline with a 2px offset, so you can see where you are on the page.
  • Color contrast. Body text is charcoal on a warm-white background, and headings use navy. Text and interactive elements meet or exceed WCAG AA contrast ratios. Meaning is never communicated by color alone — statuses and errors also use text and icons.
  • Structure. Pages use a single H1 with a logical heading order, landmark regions for navigation and main content, breadcrumb navigation, and descriptive link text.
  • Images. Content images carry descriptive alternative text. Decorative icons are hidden from assistive technology.
  • Forms. Every field has a visible label, errors are described in text, and the contact form explains what we do and do not want you to include.
  • Motion. Animations are minimal, and if your device is set to reduce motion, transitions are suppressed automatically.
  • Touch targets. Buttons and links meet a minimum 48×48 pixel touch area on mobile.
  • Readable text. Body text is set at a comfortable size with 1.6 line spacing and short paragraphs.

Known limitations

  • Third-party websites. Organizations we link to have their own accessibility practices, which we do not control. If you find that a listed resource is not accessible, please tell us and we will consider noting it or suggesting an alternative.
  • User-supplied content in the future. If the site later accepts contributed content, we will apply the same standards to it.

Feedback

Accessibility problems are treated as bugs. If something on this site is difficult to use — with a screen reader, keyboard, magnification, voice input, or at a larger text size — please contact us with the "Website Feedback" category and describe what you were trying to do. We will respond and fix what we can.
